The draft, which is prepared for public debate has been published at the end of June 2009 by the Ministry for Science and Technological Development. The strategy addresses current key challenges of the national R&D community and proposes measures to resolve the issues which were identified. Public debate will last until the end of September. The strategy is expected to be adopted in the first quarter of 2010.

CEON/CEES will take an active participation in watching public opinion on the strategy, as well as in the process of preparations for strategy adoption in general.

In order to improve the quality of domestic scientific periodicals, The Ministry of Science and Technological Development adopted the Act about Scientific Journals Editing, which should serve to the editorial boards to improve their journals and to contribute to greater involvement of journals into domestic and international system of scientific information.

CEON/CEES took an active participation in preparing the Act.

The conference entitled «System of Scientific, Technological and Business Information», was held in Belgrade. The most frequently addressed subject at the conference was the evaluation of research results.

The conference on “System of Scientific, Technological and Business Information” with the specific theme “SSTBI as a support for decision making in management and evaluation of scientific-research and research-development work” will take place at the Faculty of Information Technology in Belgrade, Serbia, on June 19-20.

During the second day of the conference a round table on «Evaluation of R&D work» will be held.

The workshop, held on 23-24 April, was entitled Open Access: Maximising Research Impact. The organizer of the workshop was the New Bulgarian University in cooperation with the eIFL.net.

CEON/CEES was represented by a presentation dealing with SCIndeks from the regional perspective.
